Marching Band Absence Excusals
Please remember that all practices and performances are required. This includes band camp, class during the school day, and Thursday/Saturday rehearsals held outside of the school day. Marching Band is a performance-based course. Members who will be absent must request permission from the directors before the necessary absence by filling out an excused absence form at least two (2) weeks prior to the absence. A request does not guarantee an excused absence, so plan ahead before assuming you will be excused. Failing to adhere to this policy will dramatically impact the earned grade, as well as limit the possibility for future participation. Illness and family emergencies are the only exceptions to this rule. School attendance policy is in effect for all of marching band.
To request an excusal, please fill out the buff colored paper form found on the magazine rack in the band room (near the entrance door) to submit an excused absence request. Remember, the form MUST be filled out at least two (2) weeks prior to requesting the absence. All requests are not guaranteed to be granted.
