On Jan 19, our choir students from SHS joined the Saratoga Rotary, supporting their fundraising concert which featured prolific singer/songwriter Judy Collins. It is an exciting opportunity for our students to sing a performance with such a notable singer/songwriter at the beautiful Campbell Heritage Theater.
Judy performed four songs with the choir, and the choir opened the concert with three numbers from our repertoire. With the folk/acoustic movement so prevalent in our times, this artist has transcended generational boundaries simply due to her great vocal health, and classic acoustic/folk style and sound.

Fun-fact: Judy's version of Amazing Grace was selected in 2017 by the Library of Congress, to be preserved in the National Recording Registry, as being culturally, historically and artistically significant! So cool!

For the students and teacher, it has been quite the experience getting to work on multiple studio-esque arrangements, in a setting where we won't quite know how the "artist" is going to nuance the piece till the sound check, and to only have two-weeks to learn the music. (They've only been working on the music since we returned from December break).

It was such an honor to be performing in one stage with Ms. Judy Collins! I am glad that all these choir members got the chance to perform with her. I am sure that everyone was pressured to exert their best. But what's good thing about it is they were able to perform with great voices and blessing! You can see on the photos that they had a blast on their performance. We all know that having fun is one of the best things we should do in every performance that we do!
