On Sunday, August 12, over 600 people filled a Banquet Hall at the JW Marriott in Indianapolis to honor an incredible 2018 DCI season. Read more here...
Please join us in congratulating the following SHS individuals on their accomplishments:
Our Winter Guard teams have a great season at the various tournaments and competitions.
On March 10, Varsity took first place at the CCGC tournament at Lynbrook High School; Junior Varsity took second place!
On March 17-18, Varsity took first place at the WGI Regional Championship at James Logan High School.

On Jan 19, our choir students from SHS joined the Saratoga Rotary, supporting their fundraising concert which featured prolific singer/songwriter Judy Collins. It is an exciting opportunity for our students to sing a performance with such a notable singer/songwriter at the beautiful Campbell Heritage Theater.
Judy performed four songs with the choir, and the choir opened the concert with three numbers from our repertoire. With the folk/acoustic movement so prevalent in our times, this artist has transcended generational boundaries simply due to her great vocal health, and classic acoustic/folk style and sound.
Fun-fact: Judy's version of Amazing Grace was selected in 2017 by the Library of Congress, to be preserved in the National Recording Registry, as being culturally, historically and artistically significant! So cool!
For the students and teacher, it has been quite the experience getting to work on multiple studio-esque arrangements, in a setting where we won't quite know how the "artist" is going to nuance the piece till the sound check, and to only have two-weeks to learn the music. (They've only been working on the music since we returned from December break).

Congratulations to our JV Guard on their first show at James Logan High School on Jan 27. They had an incredible show and ended up winning their class division, which was no small feat with 10 ensembles in that Division! Our Open Class Varsity Guard also had a wonderful first competition of the year and finished in 2nd place in their division out of the 7.
All in all, the guards performed their hearts out, and the parents helping were, as always, relentless in giving their help throughout the entire day.
Special Kudos go our to our Winter Guard Directors and Staff for their incredibly tailored design for each group, well planned and articulated rehearsals, and huge love they hold for the kids and activity!
Our Winter Season competitions are as follows:
January 27: James Logan HS, Union City (CCGC)
February 10: Bakersfield (WGI)
March 3: Oak Grove HS, San Jose (CCGC)
March 10: Lynbrook HS, Cupertino (CCGC)
March 17 & 18: James Logan HS, Union City (WGI)
